“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.” James 1:13-14 (NKJV)
Temptation is when we are lured away from God and it is something we will all face in life. It is used to draw us away from what God wants us to do and encourages us to do what we want to do, regardless of the consequences. What we find tempting is distinct to each of us, but the enemy (satan) will find a way to use it to lure us away from God. The enemy will always tempt us with what we like. To resist sin, we must work hard to focus on what God has called us to do and find the support we need to avoid our temptations.
Pray: Lord, help me to untangle myself from the sin in my life. I have been tempted and lured away from you and want to resist these things. Help me to find a way to no longer be enticed by my temptations and to have the strength to keep my focus on living a godly way of life. Lead me to people who can support me and my struggles, and help me avoid those who would lead me astray. Amen.
