“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!” Matthew 6:22-23 (NLT)
It’s important that we learn to guard our eyes (what we see/watch). The verse above talks about what happens when our eye is healthy or unhealthy. How does this verse relate to your life/what you watch on television, online, read, at the movies, etc.?
Another way to look at this verse is to understand that you must first believe the right thing if you want to do the right thing. We are influenced in this world by a lot of opinions from a variety of sources. The world will tell you that you need another (car, house, boat, pair of shoes, etc.) to be happy. But do you really need more of the same items? If we want the correct actions, especially related to our finances, we must get the right information. The Bible has the right information related to how we govern our finances to make an impact and leave a legacy for our children. First, how do you guard your eyes daily? Second, are you reading the Bible daily to get the right information related to all the areas of your life?
