Treasures

Treasures

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19-20 (NLT)

The verse above is not saying that it’s bad to have things here on earth. This verse has more to do with the focus of your attention. If your focus in life is to simply acquire more things, you miss a very important life principle. We will all spend eternity somewhere. What is the focus of your attention related to your finances? Are you focused on getting more stuff (which will eventually rust, break, fade, tear, etc.) or are you focused on heaven? When your focus is on heaven, you realize that it’s nice to have new things, but it’s more important to invest your resources in ways that will make an impact in the Kingdom of God. Think about your own life. Where is your focus?
