Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 2:23-24 (NIV)
I work hard every day to make my boss happy and make him look good in front of our customers. It’s part of the job. Yet despite my best efforts, sometimes no matter what I do it’s not good enough. It can be depressing, working so hard and yet feeling unappreciated. When I start feeling down about my job, I try to remind myself of Colossians 2:23-24. I’ve used the skills I have and done the best job I can do. By doing so, I not only work for God, I honor God with my work.
As Christians, it’s important that we remember who we are really working for every day. We don’t work for human masters – we work for our heavenly Father. When we do our work with our whole heart, we honor God and serve His Kingdom.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I give my work to you. When I work, may I do it with my whole heart and give you glory. May my work be a testament to the world for you. No matter how much I struggle or how hard my job may be, give me the strength and commitment to do it with my whole heart. Thank you for always being with me, supporting me, and loving me. Amen
