Taming My Temper

Taming My Temper

Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. Proverbs 16:32 (NLT)

The Bible tells us that patience and self-control are extremely important in life.  Think of a specific situation (or person) that continually frustrates you.  How can you exercise more patience in that area today?  Think of it this way.  We often want God to be patient with us.  Do you extend that same patience to others?

When you have self-control, it’s an indicator that discipline is operating in your life.  Are you disciplined when getting up in the morning or do you hit the snooze button repeatedly?  Are you disciplined when someone near you is driving aggressively?  Do you have discipline when it comes to snacking (making good food choices) or do you eat whatever you want?  Make a decision today to be more patient and have more self-control in your life.

Prayer:  God, help me to have more patience and self-control.  I admit that I’m often impatient when dealing with other people and situations.  Help me to be patient and disciplined in every area of my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
