Anointed Me

Anointed Me

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.” He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” Luke 4:18-21 (NLT)

One of the things Jesus did as part of his ministry was to help those in need. He helped the poor, released captives, healed the blind and set the oppressed free. While Jesus did these as part of his ministry, he has passed on the same work to us. We need to help the poor and the sick around us. We need to help the oppressed who we meet. God has anointed us to continue the work that Jesus started.

Prayer: God, thank you for the work Jesus did during his ministry. Thank you for reminding me the work isn’t finished. Show me who I can help today. In Jesus name. Amen.
