Bringing Change to the World

Bringing Change to the World

“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?1 John 3:17 (NLT)

What can we do to bring about change when it is needed? What can we, as Christians, do to leverage our might to see fairness and compassion brought into the world? While it is important that we fulfill our civic duties, we are more efficient at bringing change through individual choices, charity, and work. We are first called to tithe and through that our church can fulfill some of the work we are called to do. Offerings and alms are important as well as they go beyond a duty and into a choice to support specific people and goals. Not all of us are able to give monetarily, but we can each find a way to seek change through our daily actions, volunteering, and more. We as individuals can invest our time, talent, and treasure to help bring the changes we wish to see in our world regardless of the current state of the authorities.

Today, consider something you would like to see changed in the world. How can you help to change it? Is there are group or person you can partner with? Somewhere you can give or volunteer to support? If you are not sure, take some time to research what is being done already to bring that change. Pray for guidance to find the best place for you to show God’s love and compassion.
