Can You Keep a Secret?

Can You Keep a Secret?

A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. Proverbs 11:13 (NIV)

All of us have things we have heard from a close friend.  They let their guard down and allowed us to share in their deepest hurts.  They opened up to us and made themselves vulnerable.  We have been trusted with a precious gift – the gift of their friendship.  For us to keep their friendship, it is important that we also keep their secrets.  We need to be trustworthy and guard their hearts.  Read today’s Bible verse again and reflect on it for a few minutes.

Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me of the importance of being a secret keeper.  Help me to be trustworthy.  Remind me to keep the confidences of my friends.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
