Be Honest with Your Friends

Be Honest with Your Friends

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.  Wounds from a friend can be trusted, Proverbs 27:5-6 (NIV)

Being a friend is more than just enjoying the good times.  It is being there in the hard times also.  We need to be honest with our friends when things are going wrong.  If we notice they are doing something outside the will of God, we can lovingly remind them of God’s truth.  If we notice an area of their life is getting out of control, we can remind them of the boundaries.  If they ask us to hold them accountable in an area, we can lovingly let them know when they are off track.  As caring friends we can be trusted with the precious heart of our friends.

Prayer: God, thank you for the friends you have placed in my life.  Help me to remember to speak the truth in love.  Help me to be aware of the areas where I need to help my friends and show them the love they need and deserve as your creation.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
