I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Philemon 6 (NLT)
Generosity is an action and making the plan for how to be intentional with it can sometimes be difficult. How should we evaluate whether a plan is good or not? We should ask whether it will do for at least one person or group what we wish we could do for everyone. We may not be able to do everything we wish for everyone, but we can absolutely make a difference for at least one or a few people. We should also ask if our plan will make an eternal difference. Does our plan show people the goodness of God? Are we using our gifts in a way that is appropriate to our lives as Christians? And finally, is God calling you towards being generous in this way? The still, small voice may be pushing us towards something greater than we would think of, if we would only take the first step in that plan. These are some key questions to consider when making a plan to be intentionally generous.
Pray: Lord, help me plan how to best use the blessings you have given me. Help me to see where I can make the most impact with the giving of my time, talents, and treasures. I will listen for guidance in how I should make my plan and how to take those first steps in making a difference in the lives of those around me. Thank you for all you have done for me and for the opportunity to do similarly for others. Amen.
