As we are focused on being our best in our relationships, it’s important to encourage others with our words. It’s easy to join the crowd and grumble, complain, and gossip. The Bible tells us to let EVERYTHING we say be good and helpful. What should you do when your spouse makes you angry? Let everything you say be good and helpful. What should you do when you are frustrated with your teenagers? Let everything you say be good and helpful. What should you do when you have family members who consistently see the worst in every situation? Let everything you say be good and helpful.
Another aspect of encouraging others with your words revolves around this next point. If you think of something good to say…say it! Throughout the day you may think of encouraging things you could say to your spouse, family, co-workers, etc. Don’t miss those opportunities. When you think of something kind to say, try to say it immediately. That encouraging word could be just the thing that they need. How can you be more encouraging with your words today?
