God Has a Gift for You

God Has a Gift for You

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)

This verse has some key points for us to remember. First, we learn that we are saved by grace through faith. Next, we learn that salvation is a free gift – it can’t be purchased or traded. Lastly, we learn that salvation is not a reward for good deeds. Maybe you thought that if you were good enough, gave to the poor, went to church, or helped the homeless that these actions would somehow give you entry into heaven. The Bible is clear in that good deeds (while important) will not save us. The Bible tells us that placing our faith in Jesus is what saves us. Have you put your faith in Jesus? If not, read the verse below and say the simple prayer:

Prayer
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NLT)

Jesus, I need you in my life. Forgive me for all my sins and mess-ups. I’m tired of doing life alone and I need your help. Come into my heart and be Lord over my life. I believe in my heart that you are Lord, that you died for my sins, and that you rose from the dead. Thank you, Lord, for forgiving me and saving me. AMEN
