Sin Has Lost Its Power

Sin Has Lost Its Power

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. Romans 6:6-8 (NLT)

Read the entire verse above. Now, let’s focus on one sentence. The Bible states that “We are no longer slaves to sin.” That phrase “slave to sin” implies that you are fully controlled by sin. It also implies that you have no alternative or options. The good news is that we are FREE through Christ Jesus. With that in mind, what activity or habit are you a slave to in your own life? As you think about that habit or behavior, remind yourself that your “old sinful self” was crucified with Christ. Remind yourself that sin has lost its power as a result of you placing your trust in Jesus. If you haven’t placed your faith in Jesus, what’s stopping you?
