We have hope because we are absolved of our past. We are free from our past, free from guilt through Jesus Christ. If Jesus had a business card, it would say “Jesus Christ, Do-Over Specialist.”
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23 (NIV)
People can get trapped by what they do to themselves or others. The guilt and regret of our past mistakes sometimes sticks with us forever. But Jesus, The Do-Over Specialist, showers us with compassion, forgiveness, and love. These are God’s renewable resources. These three things plus God’s mercy are new every morning. Believers get the do-over from guilt.
We can be absolved from our past for a meaningful and purposeful future.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for the do-over. Thank you that You take away the weight of all the wrongs I’ve done. Thank you that I can have hope beyond my past mistakes. Thank You for taking away the guilt and pain with Your daily resources of love, forgiveness, compassion and mercy. Help me to live a hopeful, meaningful, purposeful life because You absolved my past. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
