Heart of Integrity

Heart of Integrity

He chose David his servant and took him from the sheep pens; from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance. And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. Psalms 78:70-72 (NIV)

Integrity is defined in the dictionary as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. David started out tending sheep for his father. He started his life doing small things and ended up becoming the king of Israel. He spent the early part of his life in God’s presence. This is where David learned to walk in God’s ways and developed a heart of integrity (Psalm 86:11).

We can do the same thing. As an example, we can test our integrity by asking if we would stop at a red light in the middle of the night while no one is around if we’re in a rush. Little tests like this help us to check the status of our hearts. As we spend time in God’s presence, our hearts become more like Him. We can live a life with a heart of integrity.
