But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit was sent to teach us and to remind us of all the things God has said to us. With these teachings and scriptures to guide us, we are empowered by the Spirit (Holy Spirit). God first gives us the power of salvation through the Holy Spirit. We are to be “born-again” of the Spirit.
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. John 3:5-6 (NIV)
Before we accept God into our lives, we lack the connection to the Spirit. When we accept Christ, the Spirit fills us and becomes part of us. We are reborn in this way as God commanded for our salvation.
When we are reborn in the Holy Spirit, we are able to have the power to walk in God’s will for us. We study the Bible to learn what God expects of us and what His teachings to us are. In that way, the Spirit will remind us of His will for us. We must study regularly so that our spiritual reservoir is filled, ready to be tapped by the Spirit when the need arises.
Pray: Lord, I have accepted you into my life and seek the power of the Holy Spirit. Allow me to fill my life with your teachings and prepare me so that the Spirit may guide me easily. Let me use this guidance to bring more peace, goodness, and love to the many facets of my life and to find assurance in my connection to you. Amen.
