How do I live Obedient to God?

How do I live Obedient to God?

“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NIV)

God wants us to live in a way that brings out the best in us. We should be steadfast in faith, love one another, be gentle and kind, and live peacefully with ourselves and others as part of this new life in Christ. This isn’t always easy to do. Our spirit wants to do what is right, but our body often wishes to do whatever it wants, without regard to whether it is right or not (Galatians 5:16-17). There is conflict between the spirit part of us and the body part of us, but we must work hard to live obediently to God and live a spiritually sound life. Whatever side of ourselves we feed the most is the side that will be strongest.

Today, think about what your next steps may be to secure that spiritually sound life. What do you need to do to continue to grow in Christ? What new habits could help you keep up the momentum of living obediently? Reflect on those conflicts in your life and consider ways God will help you to victory over them.
