When they arrived, he said to them: “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia. I served the Lord with great humility and with tears and in the midst of severe testing by the plots of my Jewish opponents. You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. Acts 20:18-21 (NIV)
Life is full of tests. As we go through life there will be times when our life is filled with tears. We can walk in humility. We can know who we are in Christ and put others first. In our humility, we can be aware that we need God’s help in all that we do. In our humility, we should imitate what Jesus did and take on the nature of a servant (Philippians 2:5-8). We can serve others by sharing the message of repentance and having faith in Jesus. We can share the salvation message even as we live a life of humility and tears.
Prayer:
God, I know that my life will be filled with tests. But I also know that I am your child and you will be with me always. Your word says you will never leave me or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6). Help me to live a life of humility even through the tears. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
