It’s A Heart Thing

It’s A Heart Thing

When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. Colossians 2:11-12 (NLT)

When we accept Christ into our lives and participate in believer’s baptism, He performs “heart” surgery on us. He cuts away the old sinful nature in our lives and makes us new in Him. He brings us new life from the inside out through the same power that raised Christ from the dead.

With every surgery, there is a recovery and adjustment period. We can no longer do the same things we did before. Some old habits may stop immediately, but others may take a while to work out. Each day we walk with God, He helps us to recover and adjust to our new life. Each day, He leads us into the healthy life He has planned for us.
