A thief comes to steal and kill and destroy, but I came to give life—life in all its fullness. John 10:10 (NCV)
The thief (satan) comes to steal, kill and bring destruction in our lives. Let’s analyze his strategy for a moment. The bible refers to satan as a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Have you ever watched a nature show and observed a group of lions hunting for food? Their strategy is simple – isolate and attack. The objective is to get one of the animals (i.e. a zebra) away from the herd so the lions can launch a quick strike. This is the same strategy that the enemy tries to use against us. His objective is to keep you away from the Church (or body of Christ) so that you are isolated. As an example, he tries to fill us with an overwhelming amount of guilt based on past mistakes to make us feel too ashamed to go to any church. His next step is to launch an attack when you are most vulnerable, isolated from others.
The good news is that Jesus came to give us life in all its fullness. In Him we can have peace, happiness and protection. He gave us a purpose and gives us guidance in the bible. We can have forgiveness for our sins and start fresh again. We simply need to invite Him into our lives and ask to be forgiven of our sins. Not sure how to invite Christ into your life? Say this simple prayer and make Him the Lord of your life today!
Jesus, I need you in my life. Forgive me for all of my sins. I don’t want to run away from you anymore – I now want to run to you. I’m tired of doing life alone and I need your help. Come into my heart and be Lord over my life. I believe in my heart that you are Lord, that you died for my sins, and that you rose from the dead. Thank you Lord for forgiving me and saving me. AMEN
