Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
God loves us so much that He promises to give us our heart’s desire, but it is on one condition – we must delight in Him first. We need Him to be our primary focus. As we keep Him at the center of our attention, He has the opportunity to clean out of our heart anything He doesn’t want there. He can clean out pride and self-centeredness and replace them with humility and compassion. He can fill us with love for Him and others. As we are filled with more of Him, the desires of our heart begin to look like the desires of His heart. Then, He will give us our heart’s desire.
Prayer:
God, thank you for the promise to give me the desires of my heart. I ask that the desires of my heart mirror the desires of your heart. Make me look more like you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
