On Guard

On Guard

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

As parents, we are always careful of who we let come in contact with our children. We want to protect them from bad things that can happen to them. We also want to keep them away from bad influences so they stay on the right track and out of trouble as they get older. We do everything we can to keep them safe and on the right path toward the destiny God has for them.

Just like we protect our children, we need to protect our hearts. It determines the way our life will go. We need to protect it from bad things, such as giving it to the wrong person. We need to keep out bad influences, such as habits we know that God doesn’t want in our lives. Just like we do everything we can to keep our children safe, we need to do the same with our hearts. It’s time to be on guard.

Prayer:
God, thank you for reminding me of the importance of my heart. Help me to be diligent to guard my heart. I ask you to clean out anything that will lead me away from the course you have planned for my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
