Love God and Love Others

Love God and Love Others

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,”; Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. Love never dies… 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (MSG)

God created us for relationship.  When we think about how God showed His love, we see that He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son.  We see that God is always waiting for us to seek Him but never forces Himself on us.  God is willing to forgive us of our sin when we ask Him (1 John 1:9).

The greatest commandment is to love God and love others (Matthew 22:36-40).  The best way to show we care about relationship is to demonstrate God’s love to those around us.  We can love others because God first loved us (1 John 4:19).  It is time to show the love of Christ to the world around us.

Prayer: God, thank you that you loved me while I was still a sinner (Romans 5:8).  Help me to show your love in the relationships in my life.  I want to be your instrument of love in the world.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
