Praise First

Praise First

“Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.” Matthew 6:9 (NLT)

Jesus gives us a template of how to pray in Matthew 6:9-13. The first line reminds us that God is our Father which means we have a personal relationship with him. He is not off in the distance expecting us to be perfect but is a loving father aware we are going to make mistakes as we walk through life.

We are also reminded to approach God with an attitude of worship and thanksgiving. We should not come to him with our wish list first. Our initial focus should be on establishing our personal connection with him. We need to spend some time just connecting before moving forward in our prayers.

Prayer: God, thank you for accepting me into your family. Thank you for reminding me to connect with you on a personal level during my times of prayer. Help me remember to build this into my prayer life from now on. In Jesus name. Amen.
