For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on the character of Christ, like putting on new clothes. Galatians 3:26-27 (NLT)
When a person is baptized they are making a public stand with Christ. Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection is where He defeated sin and death.
After accepting Christ, your next step as a believer is to be baptized. The bible mentions this sequence – the person believes and accepts Jesus as Savior, then they are immediately baptized. Baptism happened immediately after accepting Christ. No waiting. Simply trust and be baptized.
The act of baptism announces to the world that you are ALL IN, not hiding your faith. Jesus promises to do the same for you before the Father:
Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT)
Pray: Dear God, thank you for making a way for my sins to be forgiven through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What a loving and kind Father You are that You would give up Your only Son for me! Help me take a public stand with Jesus…whether it is by taking the first step and being baptized after accepting Christ or by having courage to stand up to sin at home, work, with family, or friends. Help me to proclaim my faith and not to hide it. Thank you for the promise that when I publicly stand with Jesus on earth, He stands with me before You. Thank you God, Amen.
