Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27 (NIV)
God cares for us more than we could imagine. He encourages us to stay unpolluted from the world. He also tells us the way to have religion that is viewed as pure and faultless. The answer is to look after the orphans and widows. While not everyone can open their home to take in a child who has lost their parents or a woman who has lost her husband, there are other things that can be done to help. There are programs that need financial support. There are programs that need volunteers. You could spend time with someone in need. How will you keep your religion pure and faultless?
Prayer:
God, I want to have a pure and faultless religion as mentioned in the verse. Show me what I can do to make a difference in the life of the orphans and widows in the world around me. Help me to make a difference for your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
