Searching

Searching

“So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” Luke 15:3-7 (NLT)

Have you ever lost something valuable? Once you realized you lost it, you probably dropped everything to spend time searching for it. You asked people around you to help look for it. Once you found this valuable treasure, you told others that you found it because you were so excited.

God views us as valuable. We all start out lost. He sends people across our paths to try and help us realize we are lost. He is always there waiting for us to call on him, so we can be saved. Once we repent, there is celebration at the return of the lost soul (Luke 15:10). God is searching for the lost and calling them to himself.

Prayer: God, thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for still searching for other lost souls, so they can spend eternity in relationship with you. Use me to help the lost around me. In Jesus name. Amen.
