See Clearly

See Clearly

Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. Matthew 7:5 (NLT)

We usually think we can easily see where other people fell short. We think if we were in their position, we would have done things differently. We notice how they may have mistreated others or how they were unable to keep their children under control in the grocery store. The Bible reminds us that we need to focus on our shortcomings first instead of those of other people. It points out that our issues could be much bigger than theirs. We have to remove our log so we can see clearly before worrying about their speck.

Prayer:
God, thank you for reminding me to focus on my shortcomings before worrying about others. Show me any logs I need to clear out. I want to be used by you to fine tune others for your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
