Stage 1: The Happy Honeymoon

Stage 1: The Happy Honeymoon

Young Man
Like a lily among thistles is my darling among young women.

Young Woman
Like the finest apple tree in the orchard is my lover among other young men.
I sit in his delightful shade and taste his delicious fruit.
He escorts me to the banquet hall; it’s obvious how much he loves me.
Strengthen me with raisin cakes, refresh me with apples, for I am weak with love.
Song of Songs 2:2-5 (NLT)

Stage 1 is intense, ideal, indulgent, full of infatuation and much ignorance. It’s a season of being captivated by each other. Those in the relationship are going along to get along. Days are spent surprising each other and pleasing each other. The key to stage one is thrilling, happiness, exciting, and wonderful. We overlook our differences and put our preferences first.

But stage one doesn’t last. Reality sets in. The tons of fun eventually ends. The defining moment occurs when different temperaments, different goals, bills and jobs kick in.

ACTION: Do what you used to do to get what you once had. Go back to the old days when your thoughts and actions catered to the one you love.
