Start at the Beginning and Go to the End

Start at the Beginning and Go to the End

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:  that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.  1 Corinthians 15:3-5 (NIV)

Jesus shows us the path:  Go into all the world telling the Gospel (Good news) and baptizing believers.

First things first: Tell the Gospel, the good news that Jesus was born, died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead.  Jesus appeared to many people after He rose from the dead.  Jesus was God and experienced life on earth for one reason – to pay the price that sin requires…death.  Jesus made this payment for us when He died for our sins.  But Jesus didn’t stay dead, He rose on the third day (which is why Christians celebrate Easter).  Jesus did this for us because He loves us.

God reached down to earth through Jesus.  God loves you so much that God sent Jesus to die for your sins.  When Jesus died, He paid the penalty for all sin.  Jesus looked back in time to the sin of the past, to all of our sin today, and to all future sin.  Jesus died once and for all.

Pray:  Dear God, Thank you for loving me so much that you sent Jesus to die for me.  Thank you that Jesus rose from the dead so that I can rise to new life with you.  Lord, please help me to believe this truth and also show me who needs to hear this.  Lord, would you give me the words to share the Good News?  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
