Take Your Stand

Take Your Stand

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:13-17 (NIV)

We learn in the Bible that Jesus tells us to share the Gospel (the good news of Jesus death & resurrection and what it means for others) and then be baptized.  Jesus Himself was baptized.

Baptism is simply announcing your faith.  Baptism reflects your new life in Christ.  Through Believers Baptism, we give a public expression of our personal stand with Christ.  During Believers Baptism, a person (who has accepted Christ) is immersed in water which represents Jesus’ death, then raised out of the water which identifies our new life through Jesus’ resurrection.

It’s important as Believers that we follow Jesus’ commands and obey – first to believe the good news (Gospel) then to be baptized.

Make the commitment to Christ:  This coming Sunday, Heritage will be baptizing believers who will take their personal stand with Christ.  If this is you, make the commitment to be baptized.  Follow the instructions Jesus gave by first believing and second being baptized.  Click the link below and sign up to be baptized this Sunday.    If you have already taken a stand with Christ, invite someone to come to Heritage this weekend to witness the life change in other new Christians.  Come support the body of Christ.
