Stranger, Seeker or Follower

Stranger, Seeker or Follower

Stranger
Jesus did many other miracles in the presence of his followers that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you may have life through his name. John 20:30-31 (NCV)

Seeker
Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 (CEB)

Follower
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23 (NLT)

There are three types of people in the world – strangers, seekers and followers. There are those who don’t really know God. They may know about Him or they’ve never heard about the love of God at all. Seekers are those that know God. They have or want a relationship with God, and they do what they are taught from God’s Word. Followers have a relationship with God but take it one step further. Their relationship is sacrificial. Each day they are willing to give up what they want in order to do whatever God is asking them to do. They aren’t concerned about what others think of them because they focus on what God thinks of them. Which one are you?

Prayer:
God, thank you for loving me. As I look at my life, help me to determine if I’m a stranger, seeker or follower. I want to be a follower. Show me the steps I need to take today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
