The Real Battle

The Real Battle

Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world.  Ephesians 6:12 (NCV)

It’s always important to remember that our fight here on earth is ultimately a spiritual fight.  There is an enemy (satan) who seeks to destroy us.  The enemy has limited power, but God is all powerful.  The good news is that Jesus has already defeated the enemy for us!  Take a moment to reflect on the verses below.  What is God saying to you through those verses?

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33 (NLT)

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5:4-5 (NLT)

…But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8 (NLT)

We are people of flesh and blood. That is why Jesus became one of us. He died to destroy the devil, who had power over death. Hebrews 2:14 (CEV)

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Matthew 28:18 (NLT)
