The Two-Question Test

The Two-Question Test

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I John 5:12 (NKJV)

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Romans 14:10-12 (NIV)

The above scene is a picture of what will be our day in God’s court. God will have two questions for people:

1. What did you do with My Son, Jesus?
2. What did you do with what I gave you?

Eternal reality is that Hell exists as the place where people go to pay for their own sin. Either you pay for your own sin or you let Jesus pay for your sin.

The fact is, if you did nothing with Jesus, there will be no follow up question.

Perhaps you would answer “I’m a good Christian, I went to church every Sunday” or “I was the best parent I could be” or one of the most common, “I tried not to hurt people.” God isn’t asking for your resume, He is asking, “What did you do with Jesus?” If Jesus is not your Savior, then you will personally pay the price of your sin.

Once your salvation is established, then the follow up question about how you used the resources God gave you comes into play. God is not judging your sin with this inquiry, God is measuring you for the rewards He has for you.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NIV)

“For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.” Matthew 16:27 (NIV)

So today may be your day to get right with God and decide once and for all, what will you do with Jesus?

Pray: Dear God – I know that I am not good enough to undo all the sin I’ve committed in my life. I can’t save myself but I believe that You love me enough that you can save me through Jesus who died on the cross for my sins. I’ve been told that eternal life is possible through Jesus. Help me, with all that I know and all that I don’t know about Jesus, to give my heart and life and accept Jesus as my Savior. Open my mind, heart, and life to the love You have for me so that I would know You more. God, help me to use what You have given me to do good. Make this the first day of a new chapter in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
