Driven By Eternity

Driven By Eternity

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

We were made to live eternally. God’s original plan was to be with His people forever. Once our salvation is established (when we accept Christ into our lives), our eternal life and home are secure. But what about this life? What do we do while we are here?

When we are driven by eternity, we make every moment count. We were made to live here intentionally. We need to intentionally give what we have. Note the emphasis is on what you have, not what you don’t have. God has blessed you with all that you need…and some of us have even more than that. When you are eternity driven, you use what you have to be a blessing to others.

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11 (NIV)

Maybe perhaps, you have just what you need. Lack of material or financial abundance does not limit us when we are driven by eternity. When we are eternally minded, we will intentionally serve others. Serving others requires nothing to be given but love. Serving others involves your time and talents. We are never short on talents that can be used to bless God and His people.

“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-28 (NIV)

Consider how you can give for eternity while you live intentionally on earth. Contact the Heritage Church office to find a need and fill it. Pastor Jeff gave an example of how your talent is valuable to God and His people. As an example, maybe you could serve children to give them the opportunity to connect to Jesus.

Talk to God: Dear God – How can I be useful to Your kingdom while I’m here on earth? Can I really work with kids? Can I really use my talents to make an impact in other areas? And what if I’m only good with my hands or my mind? Show me that place that You would have me to make an impact on Your people for Your glory. I want to live this life on purpose while I wait for eternal life with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
