Time for Training

Time for Training

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)

It is so easy to want people to do things the way you expect them to. As a parent, you have an idea in your head of what your child’s life will look like when they grow up. As a spouse, you want things done the way you would do it on your schedule. As a boss, you may expect an employee to do things in a certain order or focus on the details you think are important. But the other person is not you and their life may not work out the way you expect it to.

God reminds us that we all have our own path. He has created us as unique individuals, each with our own purpose. If we take the time to get to know how God made the other person (such as a child, spouse, co-worker, etc.), we can see the uniqueness God has placed in each of them. As we help them grow in the way God made them, they will naturally accomplish what God has for them. Who knows – it may even turn out better than you expected.

Prayer:
God, thank you that you have created us as unique individuals. Help me to see the people in my life the way that you see them. Teach me how to train them in the way you have for them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
