Trusting God

Trusting God

In our journey of faith, we have to learn to trust God. At first, we may be focused on our own independence and believe that we are good enough on our own to find our way in life. In reality, we must learn to trust God and allow Him to lead us.

With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.  Proverbs 3:5-6 (CEV)

By following God we are increasing our trust in Him, but this is a “hands-off” trust. God wants us to trust Him this way, but also to build on it and trust Him with action. A “hands-on” trust puts us into action. It takes “me” and turns it into “we”.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

When we trust God in a hands-on way we are not only following Him, but we realize we are meant for action in doing the good works that we were already prepared for. These works are not just something we accomplish as individuals, but we accomplish them in partnership with God. God’s plans for us are bigger and brighter than we can imagine, so we must trust, follow, and act in faith to fulfill the purpose we were designed for!

Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust you fully. Guide me down the path I am meant to take and grant me the confidence and faith to act on what I learn. Show me how to trust you actively and to do the good works you’ve prepared me for. In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
