Unspeakable Suffering

Unspeakable Suffering

“They, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” Revelation 14:10-11 (NIV)

Hell is a place of unspeakable suffering. It will be full of torment and smoke. There will be no rest for anyone there. It will also be full of God’s wrath. But the physical pain and environment will not be the worst part of being in hell. It will be a place without God. Those who live in hell will spend eternity separated from the love and goodness of God. Imagine an eternity without feeling God’s love, without knowing the kindness of a friend of family member. An eternity without God would be an eternity of unspeakable suffering.

Prayer: God, thank you for making a way that we can spend eternity with you. Thank you that I don’t have to live in a world without knowing you in a personal relationship. Send someone across my path today for me to share the good news with. In Jesus name. Amen.
