He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (NIV)
Sometimes we tend to think that God expects a lot of us. We think that He expects us to be perfect. We think that He wants to take all the fun out of life. But God only asks us to do a few things in this verse – act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before Him.
When we act justly, we spend our time doing the right things. Our love of mercy is displayed in doing for others – taking care of the poor, sick and needy. Walking humbly is when we follow God’s plan for our lives instead of putting ourselves first. This is what is required.
God, thank you for showing me what is required. Help me to do the right things for others. Help me to show mercy to others. Help me to walk humbly before you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
