When Are We Too Old for Homework?

When Are We Too Old for Homework?

“Follow my example: Even the Son of Man did not come for people to serve him. He came to serve others and to give his life to save many people.” Mark 10:45 (ERV)

We always have an assignment to do for Jesus. Jesus is our teacher. Jesus teaches us that loving and serving in our relationships are our assignments from God. Don’t take this homework lightly.

When we focus on loving and serving our closest family (spouse, children, parents, in-laws) God prevents us from acting in familiarity (taking them for granted, downplaying their priority, expecting they know we love them even when we don’t show it, etc.). When we recognize the value of these people, we become our best and God can do what He wants to do in these relationships. We maximize the value of our loved ones and live our lives in God’s purpose.

Challenge: Five minutes before you start your day, do this:

  • Think: (My Spouse/Child/Parent/In-Law) is my assignment from God today. How can I love and serve them like Jesus? Exchange a new name each day until your family is covered with your love and service.
