It was by faith Abraham obeyed God’s call to go to another place God promised to give him. He left his own country, without knowing where he was to go. Hebrews 11:8 (NCV)
When planning for a trip, most of us usually have a destination in mind. Those of us who are planners will figure out all the stops and sights we plan to see along the route. Abraham was told by God to pack up his life and move to a place God would show him (Genesis 12:1). Abraham didn’t know where he was going, but God did.
God knows our final destination. He knows the plans He has for us. God knows the stops we need to make along our route. He is asking us to have faith in Him to get up and go. Our faith in God is remembering His plans are to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). He is a good and loving God who wants what is best for us. He just asks us to get up and go and He will be with us along the way (Hebrews 13:5).
