Blessed to be a Blessing

Blessed to be a Blessing

Don’t store treasures for yourselves here on earth… But store your treasures in heaven where they cannot be destroyed by moths or rust and where thieves cannot break in and steal them.  Your heart will be where your treasure is… No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches. Matthew 6:19-21, 24 (NCV)

“Enough” protects you, honors God, and blesses others. Within the parameters of “enough” we are safe and protected from envy, greed, hoarding, selfishness, and other temptations and sin. Focusing on how you can give more, not get more, opens you up to even more blessings. You will receive more blessings so you can be generous to others (2 Corinthians 9:11).

“God doesn’t bless us to raise our standard of living; God blesses us to raise our standard of giving.” -Mark Batterson

Proverbs 19:17 tells us, “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you!” God doesn’t just want to bless us, He wants His blessings to flow through us to others. When we live with enough, we have more than enough to bless others as well.

Action Step: Examine the areas of your life where you have received blessings beyond what you need. Find a way to give more instead of thinking about getting more. Pray to God telling Him that you are content with what you have and think of how you can be more generous to others in need.
