Take Delight in the Lord

Take Delight in the Lord

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Psalm 37:4 (NLT)

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, Colossians 1:13-15 (NLT)

One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV)

What does it mean to “take delight in the Lord”? Taking delight in the Lord means that you find peace and fulfillment in God’s ways and His Word. When we cherish God and His eternal ways, we find contentment and we feel fulfilled, not wanting for anything. When we feel fulfilled, we can do even more to help others. When we help others, we find even more contentment.

Action Step: When you pray to God, acknowledge that His way is better than your way. Tell God that you cherish Him and thank Him for all He has done for you. Look for ways you can continue to give freely and refresh others. Take note of how your generosity impacts others and how you were impacted in return.
