Choosing to Believe God’s Version of Me

Choosing to Believe God’s Version of Me

Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.  Ephesians 3:17,19 (TLB)

God sees us in ways we cannot imagine.  He not only made each of us in His image, He sees a reflection of Himself in us.  We see ourselves from the context of our individual earthly existence.  Sometimes that may seem bleak, boring, insufficient, or simply unremarkable.  But God sees us much more broadly than that.  We are each a completely unique, one-of-a-kind, for-all-of-time expression of God.  If we are to trust God fully, we must be able to imagine ourselves as fully, completely, and capably as God sees us.  God invested Himself in us when He breathed life into us, and we are much more than our earthly circumstances. We need to believe in God’s version of ourselves to be able to live in a fully trusting faith.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to see myself as you see me.  Help me to work through my insecurities and worries to find my true identity.  Let my trust in you grow as I find the path you are asking me to walk.  Let me remember that you are part of each of us, made in your image, and a reflection of yourself in the world.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
