For Your Sake

For Your Sake

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief… 2 Peter 3:8-10 (NLT)

It is easy to wonder why God allows us to go through life’s struggles.  Why do we have to face the bad reports from the doctor or why do we have to deal with challenging people?  He could just come to earth and fix everything.  Then the problems we face would just go away.

But on the other side of the question above are all the lost souls who would never have the opportunity to have a relationship with Him if He came back immediately.  They don’t know Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their lives.  They may never have heard the good news that Jesus died so they could have a life in eternity with Him.  He is waiting to return for your sake – to allow the lost to accept Him into their hearts.

Prayer: God, thank you that you sent your Son to save me.  Thank you for the reminder that there are many still that need you in their lives.  Show me today who I can share my story with so they can learn about you. Help me to recognize the open door to share my faith and the boldness to walk through it.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
