Gifted to Serve

Gifted to Serve

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT)

God created each of us with a unique set of gifts to fulfill the purpose He created us for.  But many times we don’t think the things we are good at can make a difference.  We sometimes think the gifts we view as the big things are the most important such as teaching at church, leading the songs at church or volunteering in the kid’s area at church.  God doesn’t see it that way.  He made us with a specific set of talents and abilities to complete the work He has for us.  The ways we can help others may not seem like a big deal, but can make a big impact to someone else.  This could include the person who needs a ride to church, the mother who just needs a listening ear, the friend who unexpectedly lost a loved one who just needs a shoulder to cry on or the family whose home is in need of home repair.  You are gifted to serve.

Prayer:
God, thank you for reminding me that I am gifted to serve.  Show me where I can serve today and bring glory to you.  I want to use the unique set of gifts you have given me.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
