Innocent Blood

Innocent Blood

The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. Gen. 3:21 (NIV)

When Adam and Eve sinned, there needed to be something done to cover their sin. God killed an animal and shed innocent blood to cover their nakedness. This continued on a regular basis to cover the sins of God’s people, the Israelites. The priests would sacrifice animals, place the blood on the altar and ask God to forgive the people. However, this was only temporary. They had to keep shedding innocent blood. God had a bigger plan to permanently cover the sins of humanity by shedding the blood of Jesus.

Prayer: God, thank you for a way to enter into a lasting relationship with you. Thank you for sending your Son to shed His blood for me. Help me to share the good news with others. In Jesus name. Amen.
