Maturing Me

Maturing Me

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much … If you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?  And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you your own?  Luke 16:10-12 (NIV)

As parents, our goal is to help our children to grow into mature, responsible adults.  To help them on their journey, we trust them with small tasks such as picking out their own clothes.  As they demonstrate they are maturing, we trust them with more important things like crossing the street by themselves.  Eventually, they can be trusted with bigger and more costly responsibilities such as driving the family car.  God uses our work lives to help us demonstrate that we can be trusted.  The resources we are trusted with today are only temporary while we are still living on earth.  But God is using it to prove He can trust us with heavenly resources that will last throughout eternity.

Prayer: God, thank you for the trust you have in me.  Help me to mature and become more trustworthy every day.  Show me what I need to do to become a person that you will trust with true riches.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
