Passing Through

Passing Through

“For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.” Philippians 3:18-20 (NLT)

There is a saying to leave things better than you found them. This world is not our home. We are only passing through. We can spend the short time we have in this life worrying about ourselves, or we can spend the time focused on advancing the kingdom of God. We can make a difference in the lives of those around us. We can show God’s love to those who are hurting. We can give of our time to someone who needs a shoulder to cry on. We can smile at the cashier we meet in the grocery store. We can hold the door open for a stranger. We are only passing through, but we can make a difference while we are here.

Prayer: God, thank you for reminding me that I am only passing through. Show me today where I can make a difference and leave this world better than yesterday. Help me to show those around me that I am a citizen of heaven and reflect you in my daily world. In Jesus name. Amen.
