Rest in the Shadow

Rest in the Shadow

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.  Psalm 91:1-2 (NLT)

Do you remember building a play fort as a child?  It could have been made of couch cushions or by hanging sheets across chairs.  In other cases it could be a snow fort in the yard.  We could hide in our fort and we felt nothing could harm us.  We found a place of safety in our fort.

As Christians, we have the best place of safety available, God’s shadow.  He gives us the choice to live in His shadow.  We can run to the place He has for us and find rest knowing He will take care of us.  As we move through trials and struggles in this life, we find rest in knowing God is our refuge and safety.  We can rest in knowing that we can trust Him.  He has a plan and everything is under control.  It is time to rest in the shadow.

Prayer: God, thank you that I can live in your shelter and find rest in your shadow.  Thank you for the reminder that you have a plan and things will work out for my good, even if I don’t know how they are going to work out.  I choose to rest in your shadow knowing that I can trust you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
